Hi Leigh
Sounds like you need to turn on the A to Z under Options, Modules.
If you have the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin installed, try running this under Tools.
Best advice for plugins is to remove before uploading.
If you have the Zig Widget Class plugin installed, you can add the “zign2n” class to your need to know widget. Otherwise you can write some custom CSS to change the style of the widget.
Hope that helps.

Luke OathamKeymasterHi Leigh
You’re fine to update theme and plugin files to 4.9+
Check out Options, Modules for new features. You may need to switch on the A to Z option if you used this before. There are new post types, taxonomies, plugins and templates.

Luke OathamKeymasterHi Natalie
You can use the translation functionality to change text in the templates. You’ll need to use Poedit and create a new translation using the govintranet.pot file from the govintranet/languages folder. Search for “Need to know” and change the text to your preferred wording. When done, you should save your work as govintranet-en_GB (the extension should match your default language) – this will create a govintranet-en_GB.po and govintranet-en_GB.mo file. Copy these files to your /wp-content/languages/themes folder.

Luke OathamKeymasterWhat is the last version that works for you? I’m getting intermittent 500 errors on a new server caused by timeout errors, pages work when refreshed.
Luke OathamKeymasterHi Luke. Sorry for the late reply and thank you very much for your solution – the new release fixed it as you said it would.
Luke OathamKeymasterv4.7.4 has some fixes for the teams template – if the profile links are okay in the staff directory, this release should fix your teams.
Luke OathamKeymasterExcellent news. Looks like the forums don’t like .po files – are you able to send via email and I can upload to the GlotPress database? http://intranetdiary.co.uk/contact/
Luke OathamKeymasterI’m currently working through the theme making it ready for translation. After this I will standardise the dates so that they pick up the format from general settings.
Luke OathamKeymasterThanks a million Frederic!
I am only part way through making changes to the templates, so there will be more entries for translation coming soon.
This is a great start and I’ll compile the work so far and upload to the repository this weekend.
Luke
Luke OathamKeymasterI have started to make changes to the theme templates files.
This is very much work in progress, but please see our new GlotPress translation area
I’ll need some volunteers to help with validation. Please let me know if you’re interested.
Get in touch if you’d like a new language set.

Luke OathamKeymasterHi all
The theme is based on initial bespoke development for part of the UK Government. Since open sourcing the theme, we’ve made a few steps in bringing the theme back to core standards, but there’s a long way to go.
Dates and times are on the roadmap for future enhancements.
So far we have not had any requests from clients for translation so this development is unlikely to be funded as part of ongoing client development.
Translation is something that I would personally like to build into the theme. It will require changes to most of the templates, widgets and functions in the theme. It’s a big piece of work for the templates alone, and then the language files will need to be created.
I’d be happy to collaborate on github to integrate the translation changes: https://github.com/helpful/govintranet
Let me know if you’re interested!

Luke OathamKeymasterThis enhancement is on my list. Hopefully implemented by end of Nov.
Luke OathamKeymasterHallo!
Core posts aren’t used in the theme and “blog posts” are used instead. The post format is not really used apart from an aid in the backend for editors to organise news and blogposts by audio/video etc.
The “Posts page” customisation function isn’t addressed in the theme, we use the widgets to and templates to create listings.

Luke OathamKeymasterThanks for the info. That’s really interesting.
Hope all goes well with the proof of concept.

Luke OathamKeymasterHi David,
Glad you got the document finder working.
I’d love to know more about your multi-site setup. I’ve not had the chance to try this myself yet.
Are you able to share more?
Luke
