KeymasterIf I have an english version of the theme installed and active and want to switch to another language, how do I go about this?
Luke Oatham
KeymasterHi all
Many thanks for all your contributions to the translation set.
I include the .po and .mo files in the /languages folder on github. You need to copy these to your /wp-content/languages/themes/ folder.
The languages folder within the govintranet theme should only contain the .pot file that comes with the theme.
As the theme and plugins are regularly updated, I’ll keep the translation files up to date in github and will release updates to the GlotPress site accordingly. This means that new translation terms will be required from time to time, and some old terms will be removed or changed.
Most of the front end templates and plugins are now translation-ready. Please let me know if you see anything that I’ve missed.
However, it looks like there are some problems in the admin interface such as the Options pages where the translations don’t work. Initial research suggests that translation is only supported for the “theme” files – that is the front end templates and plugins, but not for the admin interface as is this not part of the theme and is handled directly by WordPress. For the custom elements of the admin interface such as the Options page and any custom fields in the custom post type editing screens, the theme translation files aren’t used.
I’ll continue to look into this and would appreciate any help if anyone has any ideas.

KeymasterI take it there is content categorised as ICT, else it shouldn’t appear as an option. I wonder if it’s something to do with the permalinks structure. Do you have a page with ict as the slug? Otherwise, perhaps try with just the postname as the permalink.

KeymasterGood idea. I’ll get this into the next release 🙂

KeymasterI can’t get it to work either. Looking at the code, the plugin is supposed to create some extra tables in the database but it doesn’t. Like you, the date field appears in the profile but the widget doesn’t display anything.
There are other plugins you can try such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/birthdays-widget/

KeymasterHi Graham
WordPress roles mainly concern publication privileges rather than view permissions. You’d need a third-party plugin such as “Membership” to control who can view different sections. Maybe a private wiki or forum would work? Again, you’d need extra plugins to achieve this. There is no default functionality included in the GovIntranet theme to control access for specific user groups.
Hope that helps.

KeymasterThere are some updates in v4.9.6.1 which may help with this.

KeymasterHi Richard
You need to use one Intravert plugin or the other. I’d go with the ajax version as this works better if you have caching installed.

KeymasterHi Tom
Yes there are some bugs in the search results template if documents are included! I spotted this when looking into getting a search box working on the document finder page. It’s on the list of things to fix so please bear with until this is released 🙂

KeymasterYou can add some custom CSS in Options to control elements of the comments form.
textarea#comment { height: 50px; }
There’s also an area in Options, General where you can add customised instructions for staff.

KeymasterAre you using the Advanced Custom Fields Pro plugin? It’s the Pro plugin that gives you the options.

KeymasterThere’s also an panel for “Relevanssi post controls” in individual posts where you can promote a given keyword. So for the most likely HR page you can add “HR”.
Unfortunately, other acronym departments such as IT and IS don’t stand a chance!

KeymasterJohn – Can you try switching off the bbPress option to add the root slug to forums?
