WordPress theme customizer

There are header and page background customisation options in the version 3 theme. But they boil down to a choice of colours.
I’ve been experimenting with the WordPress theme customizer in the new GovIntranet theme to allow for images. Here are some of the test pages showing custom colours and images on some of the updated templates in the version 4 theme:

The new template looks great for desktop use.
I miss mobile friendly and intuitive use, due to the lack of icons.

Use more icons for navigation and integrate a mobile UI, where the menu is shown on the leftside of the screen tablet based on the icons+tect and for a smartphone only iconbased.
Definitely more work needed on mobile UI! Mobile-first design wasn’t a priority on this theme, and our client usage is still typically 99% desktop/laptop. There are improvements in the next version but still a fair bit of work to do.
