Hi Duncan,
This happened to me when setting it up. I think it was I didn’t have the “slug” correct. Do check back to find the “How do I page” in “Pages”. Is the slug written as how-do-i ? If not change that. The other possibility is check you have enabled the How do I section and selected the page template in the “Settings” menu in wordpress admin.
Tom
Thanks Tom, I tried both of those things but still get the same error. If I go into WP Options>modules> then unchecked having tasks and guides enabled I don’t get the error and can see the categories I’ve created. However when I click on the content within those categories it doesn’t show the full article that I have written. Any other ideas on how to fix it? Is there possibly a plug in that I’m missing that relates to the how do I pages?
Hi Duncan
After switching on Tasks and guides in Options->Modules – try going to Settings->Permalinks and saving a few times.
Am I right in thinking that it’s when you click a category that you get the error? This would suggest that the category.php file is missing/corrupt or that your server has a problem with the rewrite rules?
Can you preview a task okay?
Hi Luke,
It’s before i get into the How do i page that I get the error. From the home page I click on How do I then I get the 500 error.
When I disable the Tasks and Guides in Options>Modules then I can can see the category’s when I click on How do I but then when I click on the individual Tasks it doesn’t show the full thing/error’s out.
It might be a problem with your server rewrite rules.
There are several How do I templates that you can try – do any of them work?
